CLIENT COMMUNICATION REGARDING INDUSTRIAL ACTION

17 Mar 2024

Johannesburg, 18 March 2024 - On Friday 15th March 2024, just before 17H00, Excellerate Services received a notice from the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), a minority union within the organisation, that they intend to go on strike on 18 March 2024, commencing at 05H00.

The industrial action is set to take place outside of Excellerate’s Hyde Park offices, in a pre-agreed picketing area. It is important to note that employees may not strike at any client sites or intimidate any employee to participate in the strike.

While we expected limited participation in the industrial action, we wish to assure you that all contingencies are in place to ensure minimum disruption to daily operations.

The reasons cited by NUMSA for the strike are as follows:

Excellerate Services has made extensive efforts to find an amicable and constructive resolution to the matter, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to open dialogue and fair treatment of all parties involved. We have worked diligently to accommodate NUMSA’s requests, where possible, and in line with the law. It is however become evident that the strike is being used as a form of intimidation, with the objective of gaining organisational rights.

Should you have any queries or concerns please contact the National Command Centre on 0861 00 11 00, any member of the Excellerate management team, or the undersigned.

We thank you for your understanding and support during this time. We reiterate our commitment to resolving this situation speedily, amicably and with minimal disruption.
