04 Mar 2024

Excellerate Services is pleased to welcome Philip Els to our security team as Head of Investigation and Intelligence. With an illustrious career spanning over four decades, Philip brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organisation.

Philip's journey in law enforcement began in 1978 when he joined the South African Police. Throughout his tenure, he served in various capacities, including Investigator, Intelligence Operative, Trainer, and Commander, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to his work. His investigative skills were honed in specialised units such as Murder and Robbery, Organised Crime, Serious Violent Crime, and Commercial Crime, among others. Notably, Philip has conducted covert operations both nationally and internationally, working closely with foreign law enforcement agencies.

Over the course of his career, Philip was responsible for preparing many high-profile cases for trial in the High Court and as Supreme Courts, this gave him exposure to testifying and presenting evidence in court. Philip retired from the South African Police Service in 2020, having achieved the rank of Colonel, to put his extensive experience and skills to use on the private sector.

His extensive studies and training in Strategic Management, Project Management, Anti-Corruption and Commercial Crime Investigation, Security Practice, Principles of Effective Leadership as well as Management of Training and Development, has equipped Philip with the academic knowledge to augment his practical experience, giving him the requisite skills to excel in the private security industry.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Philip is a loving father and grandfather. His passion for his work is matched only by his dedication to staying active through sports like squash, golf, and gym.

We are confident that Philip's wealth of experience and unwavering commitment to excellence will be of benefit to both Excellerate Services and our clients.
