Potential Disruptions Due to Planned and Unplanned Demonstrations

Excellerate Services advises all clients and staff of potential disruptions associated with planned and unplanned demonstrations expected to take place on Tuesday, 07 October 2025.

Applicable risks include:

• Intimidation, loitering, and heavy pedestrian movement in key urban areas
• Barricading of roads and/or road closures due to high protest attendance
• Sporadic incidents of vandalism and property damage
• Potential disruptions to public transport networks

These activities may result in delays, staff absenteeism, or late arrivals, particularly in areas where marches and gatherings occur.

While previous demonstrations — such as COSATU’s one-day strike actions — have seen limited incidents of violence, the possibility of sporadic unrest remains, especially in communities expressing dissatisfaction over socio-economic challenges such as high unemployment, crime, and inadequate service delivery.

Precautionary Measures:

• Monitor local news and traffic advisories for updates on protest routes and affected areas.
• Avoid known protest locations where possible.
• Allow additional travel time for commuting staff.
• Report any security-related incidents immediately to the Excellerate Command Centre on 0860 11 00 11

Excellerate Services continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as necessary.

• Protest march from COSATU Head Office (Braamfontein, Johannesburg, Gauteng) to Game Johannesburg City (Johannesburg Central) and the Office of the Premier of Gauteng in Marshalltown (Marshalltown, Johannesburg) from 08:30.
• Protest march from King Dinuzulu Park (Greyville, Berea, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal) to Durban City Hall (Durban Central) from 09:00.
• Protest march from Potgietersrus Comprehensive Primary School (Akasia, Mokopane, Limpopo) to the Mogalakwena Local Municipal Head Office (Mokopane Central) from 09:30.
• Protest march from the Old Putco Bus Depot (Marabastad, Pretoria, Gauteng) to the National DEL Office (Pretoria Central) from 09:00.
• Protest march from the corner of Tennant Street/M60 and Hanover Street (Zonnebloem, Cape Town, Western Cape) to the Western Cape Provincial Legislature (Cape Town Central) and the Cape Town Civic Centre (Foreshore, Cape Town) from 08:00.
• Protest march from Lediga and Maile Streets in Kgotsong (Bothaville, Free State) to Nala Local Municipal Head Office (Bothaville) from 09:00.
• Protest march from Bhisho Massacre Memorial (near Amatola View, Bhisho, Eastern Cape) to Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature (President Park, Bhisho) from 09:00.
• Protest march from Montshioa Stadium (Montshiwa Unit 2, Mahikeng, North West) to the North West Provincial Legislature (Mmabatho Unit 1, Mmabatho, Mahikeng)
• Protest march from Kemo open space (Pniel Road, Kimberley Mine, Kimberley, Northern Cape) to Shoprite Checkers Kimberley (Kimberley Central) and Kimberley Boxer Superstores (Kimberley Central) from 09:00.
• Protest march from Mpumalanga Department of Labour (DoL) Head Office (Emalahleni Central, Mpumalanga) to Roots Witbank (Emalahleni Central) from 10:00.
• Protest march from Mbombela Old Showgrounds (Mbombela 312-JT, Mbombela) to Spar Lowveld Distribution Centre (DC) (Vintonia, Mbombela) from 10:00.

• Picket action at Maxi`s Mokopane and Mokopane Hotel (Mokopane Central, Limpopo) from 08:00.
• Picket action anticipated at PG Bison Mkhondo (near Mkhondo) from 10:00.
• Picket action anticipated at Mpact Mkhondo (near Mkhondo) from 10:00.
• Picket action anticipated at Safire Chakra (near Mkhondo) from 10:00.
• Picket action anticipated at Shoprite Dwarsloop (Dwarsloop-A, Mafemani) from 10:00.
• Picket action South African Pulp and Paper Industries (SAPPI) Ngodwana Mill (Ngodwana, Mpumalanga) from 10:00.
• Picket action South African Pulp and Paper Industries (SAPPI) Ndubazi Office (Excelsior, Mpumalanga) from 10:00.
